Some random little Kadenisms

We bought Kaden a kite and he's had fun trying to fly it. It hasn't been as windy as we'd hoped for kite flying, but he's still enjoyed it nonetheless.

Kaden loves to help more than anything. He helps me make dinner every night and really likes to add ingredients when we're cooking and in the kitchen. He knows how to make a green "moothie" (smoothie) all by himself, as far as ingredients go since he requests one daily. (Fine with me since he eats very few vegetables of his own free will, this is my way to get him to eat something green without fighting, bribing or tantrums.)  He loves to add each ingredient, then turn the blender on and push the buttons to make it go. Here he is helping Curtis make German pancakes on a Saturday.

He sure loves his "deppy dool" (step stool).  He drags that thing all over the house to make sure he can reach whatever he wants. Sometimes it is honestly the bain of my existence since it always seems to be in the way and I'm constantly running into it/tripping over it, but I have to appreciate that he's a very independent little guy and really likes to know how to do things and wants to help. You can't be mad at that.

Kaden is the pickiest eater on the planet. All meals are a battle. It's quite exhausting and mealtimes were quickly becoming my least favorite part of the day because we'll be at the table for an hour a meal or more sometimes, just to get him to eat a few bites. We've figured out recently that he's very competitive (shocking, where could he get that from?) and that he'll eat almost anything if we're having a race.  We'll have "rice bite races, carrot bite races," etc.. and if he "wins," which he usually does then he'll say, "I didn't give you a chance at all." :)

Kaden is honestly a funny little guy. He loves to try and make people laugh more than anything. He's been going through a bit of a "mean" stage where he'll say some pretty rude stuff to people to get a laugh.  We've been really trying to work on praising him when he says stuff that's funny, without being mean to others.  Some of my recent favorite things he's said:
  • We were talking about eating and how grown ups can take bigger bites than kids since their mouths are bigger. Kaden then said, "when I am a grown up I will get a big mouth.  When I turn 3 I will be a grown up."
  • Curtis was just about to jump in the shower one morning, when Kaden walked in and needed something.  Curtis came out in his garments to help him.  Kaden pointed at Curtis' crotch and said, "Daddy, what is THAT?"  Curtis said, "my underwear." "No Daddy, what is THAT? (pointing to his man parts)  Did you poop?"   We couldn't stop laughing. In Kaden's little boy mind, the only reason you should have a bulge in your underwear is because you pooped and didn't get your diaper changed yet. :)
